Public Open Space and Public Education Programs, key goals of the project, are combined to create a Public Science Museum which includes a tropical forest, hydrology center, and planetarium.
A study of voids led to three void conditions: at rest, intermediate/active, and interactive. The larger voids serve as Urban Rooms. Circulation axes connect the three types of voids.
“At rest” voids are compact spaces that complement various program elements. Examples include small lounges and presentation spaces within office zones. “Intermediate/Active” voids are larger spaces containing public program of the Science Museum. “Interactive” voids are vertically oriented spaces between the Science Museum and the office zones. They contain outdoor decks that are shared by the museum visitors and office occupants.
